Is 1 800 237 8990 a real number? ›

Remember – our messages will never ask for your PIN or account number. *The phone number which the Fraud Center will call you from is 1-800-237-8990. If you add this number to your phone contacts and label it “Fraud Center,” it will display whenever you get a call from this number.

When a transaction raises a red flag, our automated fraud verification system immediately calls you from 833-735-1891 or texts you from 833-735-1897 for transactions on your debit card. There is no dedicated number that calls you when fraud is detected on your credit card.

One way to check if a number is potentially a scam is to use a reverse phone number lookup service. These websites and apps allow you to enter a number and see public information associated with it, such as the registered name, location, and carrier.

When you call back a spam number, you're playing directly into the scammer's hands. You could expose sensitive data on the call or make yourself a target for further scam attempts.

The Card Member Security team consists of live agents and an automated phone assistant. The Fraud Detection Service may contact you from the following numbers: 833-735-1894, 800-279-2674 or 877-253-8964. If you miss their call and need to contact them back, please contact them using the 877-253-8964 number.

If potentially fraudulent activity is suspected, our automated Debit Card Fraud Detection Center may attempt to call you from 833-735-1894 or 833-735-1892. Real numbers are numbers that include both rational and irrational numbers. Rational numbers such as integers (-2, 0, 1), fractions(1/2, 2.5) and irrational numbers such as √3, π(22/7), etc., are all real numbers.

While the 1-800 numbers themselves are legitimate, and call recipients will expect them to belong to a business or support center, it's important to note that scammers can spoof numbers. This means they can pose as an entity to take advantage of you and gather your personal information via a scam call.
